Deputies identify woman charged in gun incident at Ashley Ridge basketball game

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – A judge set bond Saturday for a woman arrested Friday night for allegedly bringing a weapon to a high school basketball game.

London Mechelle Taylor, 37, of Ladson, was charged with possession of a firearm on school property and unlawful carry of a pistol, Lt. Rick Carson said.

Taylor was attempting to enter an event at the school when an alarm sounded as she passed through a weapon detection unit operated by Dorchester District Two, Carson said, adding that District 2 officials found the gun during a secondary screening.

“Taylor was immediately turned over to one of the school resource officers on scene,” Carson said.
