Virgin Hotels will make its London debut with the Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch on Aug. 1.
Virgin will reflag the Mondrian Shoreditch London, which is slated to undergo “a gradual transformation to a fully fledged Virgin hotel,” according to the company.
The 120-room hotel will continue to house BiBo, a Spanish restaurant headed by chef Dani Garcia.
The Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch will also be home to a rooftop bar, pool and restaurant as well as a members-only club venue, a gym and spa treatment rooms, with these amenities all managed by Ibiza-based Blue Marlin.
The hotel is the eighth destination for Virgin Hotels and the 17th property in the broader Virgin Hotels Collection, which includes Virgin Hotels and Virgin Limited Edition luxury retreats.
It also signifies a return to Virgin’s roots.
“Since the inception of Virgin Hotels, we’ve had our sights set on London, a place that so many of our customers either call home or name as one of their favorite destinations — and of course where Virgin’s story started,” said Virgin Group founder Richard Branson in a statement.
He added that the hotel fortifies Virgin Group’s presence in London, which is already a hub for Virgin Atlantic Airways.
“Virgin Atlantic customers have always said to me that we give them a wonderful experience in the sky, but they don’t have the same Virgin experience when they land,” Branson said. “Well, we’ve sorted that in Las Vegas, New York, Edinburgh and now London, too.”
Bookings for the Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch are slated to open in early July.
Virgin Hotels has plans to open hotels in Miami and Denver next year.
