More than 20 rounds of gunfire erupted in New London

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) — Police are investigating after more than 20 rounds of gunfire erupted early this morning in New London.

At 1:44 a.m., more than 20 shell casings were found in a municipal parking lot in the area of Golden St. and Eugene O’Neill Dr. Police were alerted to the area after receiving calls about shots being fired.

New London’s Investigative Services Division also responded to the scene to canvas the area and discovered that five unoccupied cars were struck by bullets. 

Evidence was collected and police say no injuries have been reported, but that they believe this was not a random act.

As officials continue to investigate this incident, they are asking anyone with information to contact the department at 860-447-1481 or leave an anonymous tip by texting 847411.
