Vladimir Putin is now in Vietnam to restore Russia Soviet Union ties with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Putin called Vietnam one of Russia’s most “long-standing,” reliable friends and partners.
The Russian leader is seemingly wanting to wake up the Soviet era with Vietnam and said that their relations have come along way since the US invaded the country during the war.
Putin said at a meeting with Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, “It is a pleasure to be in hospitable Vietnam, on the hospitable soil of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
“One of our long-standing and reliable friends and partners.
“Russian-Vietnamese relations of trust and mutual understanding have come a long way and withstood the trials of war with honour.”
Putin added, “It is important that Vietnam also remembers this and cherishes the memory.”
In Hanoi Putin and the Vietnamese leader signed more than 10 documents to tighten their strategic partnership.
Moscow and Hanoi have signed documents for the construction of nuclear science and technology, TASS reported.
Putin and To Lam said, “On further deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership in the context of the 30th anniversary of the implementation of the Russian-Vietnamese Treaty on Principles of Friendly Relations.”
