Following Pakistan’s disappointing exit from the T20 World Cup 2024, captain Babar Azam and five other players, including Mohammad Amir, Imad Wasim, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan, and Azam Khan, have decided to stay in London for a holiday before returning home.
The team’s early exit has led these players to opt for some downtime with friends and family in the UK.
Players To Spend Time In London
The six players who are left, Azam Khan, Haris Rauf, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, Shadab Khan, and Barbar Azam, will not be going to Pakistan with the team.
They have planned to spend quality time in London with their loved ones. Additionally, some of them are considering participating in local cricket leagues in the UK during their stay.
Pakistan’s Early Exit From T20 World Cup 2024
Pakistan had a challenging campaign in the T20 World Cup, starting with a shock defeat against the USA. Their struggles continued with a narrow loss to India, making their path to qualification difficult.
Although they managed to secure a win against Canada and Ireland, it was too late to impact their standing.
The squad, except for the six players, will return to Pakistan via Dubai. Head coach Gary Kirsten and assistant coach Azhar Mahmood have also been permitted to return to their respective homes, given that there are no immediate cricketing commitments.
Speculations are rife about possible changes within the Pakistan cricket team and management following this disappointing performance.
Looking ahead, the Pakistan team will play Bangladesh in a two-match Test series in August. The England Test team is expected to tour Pakistan in October after that.
