Euston baby death: Woman arrested after newborn girl found in bin

A 29-year-old woman has been arrested over the death of a baby girl whose body was found in in a bin in central London.

Detectives confirmed the newborn was delivered at full term inside a residential address near Euston before her remains were transferred.

Officers searched the area of Taviton Street, Camden, on 8 July after a hospital alerted the Met that a woman had been there after giving birth.

The arrested woman, questioned on suspicion of child destruction, and a man, 26, arrested on suspicion of murder, have been released on bail, the Met said.

The man was also questioned on suspicion of child neglect and concealment of a birth.

Detectives said the force had carried out a “range of enquiries” since the baby was found, and a crime scene remains in place.

A Met spokesperson said: “This is a terribly sad and upsetting case for everyone involved.

“I would like to thank local residents for their patience as we continue with our enquiries and urge anyone with information to get in touch.”
