Woman charged in crash that killed two people on motorcycle

A 46-year-old woman is charged with two counts of careless driving causing death in a crash west of London that killed two people on a motorcycle, Middlesex OPP said.

The motorcycle collided with an SUV on Egremont Drive west of School Road in Adelaide Metcalfe at about 1:10 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, police said Monday. Adelaide Metcalfe is a rural municipality in western Middlesex County.

Two people travelling on the motorcycle died. They were not identified by police.

A 46-year-old woman from Adelaide Metcalfe is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with two counts of careless driving causing death, police. The woman was not identified by police because the OPP policy is not to release names of people charged under the act, a spokeperson said.

The accused is scheduled to appear in an Ontario provincial traffic court, police said.

Brantford man charged with murder

A 41-year-old Brantford man is facing a murder charge.

Brantford police received a 9-1-1 call at about noon on Friday, July 5 from a caller with concerns about the well-being of a female.

Officers arrived at a Hampton Street home and found the female deceased inside the residence. A man in medical distress was also located inside the home and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 41-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder. He has been held for bail.

Police say the accused and victim were known to each other, and there is no threat to public safety.

Next of kin have been notified, however police say they are not releasing the names of the deceased and accused on compassionate grounds.
