Chancellor hints of tax rises on the horizon – London Business News | Londonlovesbusiness.com

The Chancellor has suggested that there could be tax rises in the Autumn Budget, but Rachel Reeves also said she does not an increase of working people.

Reeves said that the public has been “misled for too long” and today she said that the former Chancellor had “lied” about the true state of the public’s finances.

The Chancellor vowed she will be “honest” over the “difficult” decisions that the government are facing.

Sky News reported that Reeves warned there “will be more difficult decisions” on welfare and tax spending when she was asked if the if the country should prepare for tax rises.

Labour’s manifesto during the general election campaign was not to raise major taxes, this being VAT, income tax and national insurance.
