Craig David turns London launderette into a rave venue

Pop legend Craig David recently transformed a London launderette into a rave venue with a surprise performance that lasted for 15 minutes – the same duration as a fast wash cycle.

The ‘Fill Me In’ singer turned DJ played a selection of his biggest hits, including ‘Rewind’, and provided entertainment for customers waiting for their laundry to finish.

The event, dubbed the Persil Wonder Wash ‘Fast Wash & Rave’, was organised following research into the habits of 2,000 adults. The study found that those aged between 25 and 34 were most likely to complete tasks quickly before and after their standard 9-5 workday.

Rather than sleeping or preparing for work, 20% of respondents reported being active at sunrise or sunset to tidy their homes. Others preferred to go for an invigorating walk, hit the gym for a workout, or even engaged in intimate activities.

The survey also revealed that 18-24 year olds are the next most likely group to make the most of their mornings, with 40% identifying as early risers.

Of all the adults polled, 27% of those aged 18-24 are likely to start their day early, although 21% expressed a desire to improve their morning routine.

Craig David, who collaborated with Persil for the event, commented: “I’ve performed in some wild locations, but never at a launderette – get that washing in, 15 minutes, play the set and bop bop bop.

“I’m definitely more of an evening person rather than a morning person. My morning routine is to get up, drink water, have a shower – and it’s in the shower where my inspiration comes.”

He continued:”If I had an extra 15 minutes, I would use it to just take time to myself, our time is the best currency we have, it’s so important.

“I’ve loved performing at the Fast Wash and Rave – the crowd was brilliant and it smelt great.”

On a typical day, the average early bird will complete four tasks between 5-9am, such as doing laundry or watering the plants.  Yet, a third of all participants feel they spend excessive time on laundry, from sorting and washing to drying and putting away.

Nathan Palmer, spokesperson for Persil, commented: “People across the nation are leading incredibly busy lives.Between work, family, and social commitments, it’s astounding to see how many of us are working on significant things outside of traditional working hours.”

“Our research has shown that many individuals wish they could spend less time doing laundry, and we aim to help people optimise their time.”

“It has been a real joy working with Craig David to reward these hard workers with a once in a lifetime experience.
