Aug. 31 (UPI) — A mother died from her wounds Saturday after she was stabbed last weekend during the Notting Hill Carnival, and renowned chef Mussie Imnetu died Friday after an attack Monday at the event.

Metropolitan Police confirmed both deaths Saturday.

Cher Maximen, 32, tried to prevent an attack on another person while attending the Notting Hill Carnival with her 3-year-old daughter. The assailant stabbed Maximen in front of her daughter at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Imnetu, 41, was attacked a day later and was found unconscious and suffering from severe head injuries in the Notting Hill area on Monday evening.

Police said Imnetu died from catastrophic brain injuries and multiple heart attacks Friday. He leaves behind an 8-year-old son.

The “heartbreaking” attacks are a “betrayal of the values that Carnival was founded to celebrate,” London Mayor Sadiq Khan said shortly after the attacks.

Imnetu was a Swedish citizen and prominent chef who worked with Gordon Ramsay and at high-end restaurants in London and New York before moving to Dubai to work as a chef there.

He was visiting London on a business trip when he was attacked at 11:20 p.m. in the Queensway area of Nothing Hill.

Notting Hill is located in western London, and police arrested suspects in both attacks.

Police arrested Omar Wilson, 31, early Wednesday morning, who was charged with causing grievous bodily harm on Thursday.

Police arrested Shakiel Thibou, 20, of Hammersmith, on Tuesday, and the Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged him with attempted murder on Thursday.

Thibou’s brothers, Sheldon Thibou, 24, of Hammersmith, and Shaeim Thibou, 22, of West Kensington, also were arrested and charged with crimes related to the attack that ended with Maximen’s stabbing.

Sheldon Thibou is charged with possession of a stun gun, violent disorder and assaulting an emergency worker.

Shaeim Thibou is charged with violent disorder and assaulting an emergency worker. He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
