Break point as Deputy Mayor serves up Wimbledon proposals – UK Property Forums

Jules Pipe, the Deputy Mayor of London, will hold a public meeting on September 27, 2024, to consider the Wimbledon Park Golf Club proposals submitted by the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC).

On January 22 2024, the Deputy Mayor for Planning, Regeneration & Skills called in the application, meaning that the Mayor of London is now responsible for deciding on the application. The Deputy Mayor called in the application because the Mayor Sadiq Kahn had spoken in favour of the proposals.

A public Representation Hearing will be held in the Chamber, City Hall (Kamal Chunchie Way, London E16 1ZE), on September 27, 2024, starting at 10:00 a.m., for the Deputy Mayor, Jules Pipe, to consider the Application in detail and determine whether planning permission should be granted. The Hearing is open to the public and has a capacity of 140.

Both Wandsworth and Merton Councils have reviewed the proposals. Merton gave them the thumbs up, while Wandsworth refused planning permission.

The plans, which are opposed by residents and local MPs, have been given the green light by the GLA, with a recommendation to the Deputy Mayor to approve them.
