World Coffee Innovation Summit in London Oct. 16-17

A high-level coffee event focused on climate and finance in the coffee sector called the World Coffee Innovation Summit is coming to the Queen Elizabeth II Centre (QEII) in London this October 16-17.

Early bird tickets for the event are running through Oct. 3, with full ticket prices to follow, ranging from £1,095 to £1,995 (approximately $1,466-$2,671).

Carrying the theme “Redefining Shared Value: Innovation Towards a Net Positive Future,” the event will convene global leaders in coffee, including corporate leaders, heads of NGOs and government leaders. 

The impressive list of speakers includes: the director of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Qu Dongyu; the director of the World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; the president of the ICE Benchmark Administration, Clive de Ruig; the head of World Coffee Research, Vern Long; and many more.

The organizer of the event, market research firm World Coffee Alliance, said the event is designed to convene global leaders in coffee to showcase innovations and impact towards traceability and sustainability, among other outcomes.

“By integrating a shared value approach within the corporate business model, innovative solutions will drive not only business but also environmental and social value for farming communities,” World Coffee Alliance stated in a preview of the event. “This net-positive economic approach helps to create a sustainable future for coffee and contributes to the overall well-being of society.”

The event is expected to build upon the World Coffee Alliance’s existing market research activities. The London-based firm serves as a research agency and private consultancy to numerous large actors in and around the coffee industry.

The looming enforcement of the European Union’s new deforestation-free supply chains law, known as EUDR, will likely be a prominent topic at the summit. The event page even includes a countdown to the Dec. 30 enforcement of the law for large companies. As of this writing, the clock was at 90 days and ticking fast.
