Job Scam in London: Ghaziabad Man Cheats 15 People of ₹12.5 Lakh | Noida News – Times of India
Ghaziabad: Police lodged an FIR on Friday against a resident of Raj Nagar Extension for allegedly cheating more than 15 people out of Rs 12.5 lakh under the pretext of providing jobs in London. Officials said the accused, Anurag Sharma, a resident of SG Grand Society, is on the run.
The investigation began after Atul Sharma, a resident of Rajendra Nagar, filed a complaint.
Atul, a former warehouse manager in South Africa, told the police that he had connected with Anurag through an acquaintance a few months ago. “Atul left his job after Anurag promised a lucrative job and extra income from events in London. In July, Anurag claimed there was a need for 15 priests for Hindu festivals like Dussehra and Diwali in London and required an upfront payment, promising reimbursement before their Sept 5 departure. Trusting him, Atul and Suraj collected Rs 1,015,000 from 15 people and added Rs 250,000 of their own. After receiving the money, Anurag disappeared and switched off his phone,” said an official.
