South Korean has said on Tuesday they could send troops to Ukraine to monitor North Korean soldiers fighting Vladimir Putin’s war.
South Korean troops could play a part with interrogations of captured North Korean soldiers and analyse their military tactics fighting in Russia’s full-scale war.
Seoul is also considering helping Ukraine with weapons since Putin signed a military decree with North Korea.
Yonhap agency reported on Tuesday, citing an anonymous government source, “There is a possibility that personnel will be sent to Ukraine to monitor the tactics and combat capabilities of North Korean special forces dispatched in support of Russia.”
“While watching signs of North Korea-Russia military cooperation, the response measures will be taken in steps,” the source added to Yonhap.
Seoul will take “phased measures” against North Korea and Russia and will deepen their support to Ukraine.
During a briefing after a meeting organized by National Security Advisor Shin Won-sik, the Deputy National Security Advisor Kim Tae-hyo announced sending offensive and defensive weapons to Kyiv.
