Drivers should plan ahead before hitting the roads this weekend as there are a number of motorway closures in place.

There are closures planned for parts of the M25, as well as the Dartford Crossing, overnight throughout the weekend.

Meanwhile, the A12 through Essex and Suffolk is also facing closures, which could cause disruption for drivers as it is one of the busiest roads in the region.

A12 closures this weekend

Friday, October 25

  • On the A12 northbound, there will be an entry slip road closure at Junction 20B between 9pm and 5am due to electrical works.

Major disruption through Loughborough until 3pm

A fault with the signalling system near Loughborough means all lines are closed. Trains running through this station will be cancelled or revised.

This is affecting all East Midlands Railway services which run through the station, and major disruption is expected until 3pm.

Here’s the latest from National Rail: ‘There is a fault with the signalling system between Loughborough Station and Trent South Junction.

‘Network Rail are currently investigating the issue and are attempting to fix the problem. They do not yet have an estimate as to when this will be fixed.’

Here’s how this will affect your train:

  • Trains running between Loughborough and Trent South Junction will be unable to run in either direction, until the signalling is restored.
  • Intercity services that run between London St Pancras International and Nottingham cannot run at all.
  • Intercity services that run between London St Pancras International and Sheffield will run and will additionally call at Kettering and Market Harborough.
  • Trains that run from Leicester / Nottingham / Lincoln / Grimsby will not run between Nottingham and Leicester in both directions.

Dartford Crossing closures this weekend

Friday, October 25

  • From Junction 1A of the A282 (anti-clockwise) to Junction 31 of the M25 (anti-clockwise) there will be a closure for grillage works from 11pm to 6am

Saturday, October 26

  • The East tunnel on the Northbound way of the Dartford Crossing will be closed from 10pm to 5am for maintenance works.

Sunday, October 27

  • The East tunnel on the Northbound way of the Dartford Crossing will be closed from 10pm to 5am for maintenance works.

Friday, October 25

  • M25 anti-clockwise junction 29 to junction 28 carriageway closure – 11pm to 6am
  • M25 anti-clockwise junction 29 entry slip road closure – 11pm to 6am
  • M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise junction 27 to M11 southbound junction 6 link road closure – 11pm to 6am
  • M25 clockwise junction 24 exit slip road closure – 8pm-6am
  • M25 clockwise junction 22 exit slip road closure – 11pm-5am

Saturday, October 26

  • M25 anti-clockwise junction 29 to junction 28 carriageway closure – 11pm to 6am
  • M25 anti-clockwise junction 29 entry slip road closure – 11pm to 6am
  • M25 clockwise AND anti-clockwise to M40 Southbound link road – 10pm-5.30am
  • M25 clockwise junction 7 to junction 8 carriageway and link road closure

Sunday, October 27

  • M25 anti-clockwise junction 29 to junction 28 carriageway closure – 11pm to 6am
  • M25 anti-clockwise junction 29 entry slip road closure – 11pm to 6am
  • M25 clockwise AND anticlockwise to M40 Southbound link road – 10pm-5.30am
  • M25 clockwise junction 7 to junction 8 carriageway and link road closure – 10.30pm-5.30am
