Three people were taken to hospital after a car mounted the pavement outside of a central London restaurant.

A passerby believed to have been injured in the chaos was taken to hospital along with the car’s driver and a passenger.

A black car mounted the pavement in Piccadilly Circus, near the Angus Steakhouse restaurant, just before 7pm this evening.

Photos revealed a large police presence and a mangled front of the car, with shattered glass nearby.

One witness told The Sun two unconscious women had to be cut free from the wreckage by emergency services.

He said: ‘There was a big crowd that gathered around the car. Everyone was so shocked. Two women were inside and they had to be cut out, they were both unconscious.

‘Firefighters had to cut the door off. There were loads of ambulances and police vehicles.’

Witnesses claimed the vehicle ‘ploughed through a row of lime bikes’ and towards a group of people during the ‘terrifying’ scenes.
