Double decker bus roof ripped off after crashing into tree in east London
The roof of a double decker bus was completely torn off in east London this morning after the vehicle crashed into a tree.
Ambulances, the fire service and police were called to reports of a bus crash just after 10am in Hedgemans Road, near Lullington Road, Dagenham.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene as emergency services attended passengers and worked to secure the area.
Two women were injured and taken to hospital as a precaution. Their injuries were described by police as non life-threatening and non life-changing.
Local residents expressed shock at the incident. One witness said: ‘The noise was unbelievable.
‘I couldn’t believe the roof had come completely off. Emergency services got here quickly, and they’ve been working to clear the area.’
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: ‘At about 10am on Wednesday, 20 November a bus collided with a tree on Hedgemans Road, Dagenham.
‘Police and the London Ambulance Service attended.
‘Two women were injured and were both taken to hospital as a precaution. Their injuries are not life-threatening nor life-changing.
‘Enquiries into the circumstances of the collision continue.’

Firefighters worked to ensure the site was safe, while police cordoned off the area to allow for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
TFL has confirmed that bus services in the area have been diverted while emergency crews remain on-site.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
