Kohli & Anushka to leave India? Coach confirms news as unhappy fans call for player’s retirement
Are star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, his wife Anushka Sharma and their children contemplating moving to London? Well, that may be the case if one were to go by what Rajkumar Sharma, Kohli’s childhood coach, has to say.
In an interview with Dainik Jagran, Rajkumar stated that Kohli and his family will soon be leaving India for their new residence in the British capital.
Kohli, born and raised in Delhi, had relocated to Mumbai a few years ago. The couple got married in December 2017 in a private ceremony in Italy. They have two children, Vamika, born in January 2021, and Akaay, born in February 2024. Their second child was born in London, further solidifying the family’s connection to the city. Kohli has been a frequent visitor to London in recent years, and reports suggest that the couple has also purchased property there.
Rajkumar Sharma expressed confidence in Kohli’s form, particularly ahead of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He dismissed any concerns about the cricketer’s performance, stating that Kohli is currently playing the best cricket of his career and is poised for success in the next two Test matches.
“Virat is playing some of the best cricket of his career. He scored a century in the first Test against Australia, and I am confident he will score two more centuries in the upcoming Tests. He has always enjoyed the game and there is no need to worry about his form. He knows how to perform under challenging conditions and lead his team to victory,” Rajkumar said.
Regarding Kohli’s fitness, Rajkumar remarked that the cricketer is in excellent physical condition and is far from the age of retirement. He predicted that Kohli would continue playing for at least another five years, including the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, where he is certain to represent India.
“I’ve known him for 26 years, and I can confidently say that he still has a lot of cricket left in him,” Rajkumar added.
