Adam Sandler’s unlikely London exploits: How the Hollywood star has embraced his time in the capital – from playing surprise basketball games with Clapham locals to cheering on Chelsea

He has been out and about everywhere in London in recent weeks, shocking fans with his pop ups in surprise locations.

Adam Sandler seems to most definitely be a fan of the capital and when he isn’t away filming for his upcoming projects, the actor, 57, prefers to keep it low-key and isn’t afraid to get stuck in with the locals.

On Wednesday he left fans gobsmacked as he joined in with a game of basketball on the south west London court in Clapham Common.

The Murder Mystery star is known for his love of the American sport and previously appeared in the basketball-themed movie Hustle (2022).

Keeping it casual, Adam opted for a laid back look for the day as he sported a light blue hoodie and a pair of red tracksuit bottoms.

A clip of the actor playing was shared on social media with an X user writing: ‘Just walked past Adam Sandler playing basketball in Clapham.’

It’s not the first time the Grown Ups star has been seen getting stuck in to a game, after he left fans aghast while playing at Kensington Leisure Centre last month.

The star looked to be getting stuck in with the game in a clip shared to TikTok as he was put through his paces by the players.

Noticeably shorter than his teammates, Adam seemed to have also forgotten his sporty attire as he ran around in a Hawaiian printed summer shirt.

He completed the look with some grey jogging bottoms and his burgundy Hoka trainers as he enjoyed the game.

Meanwhile Adam looked slightly less energetic on Tuesday as he paused for a rest in the middle of Mayfair.

Fans were surprised to spot him taking a seat outside the door of five star Claridge’s hotel as he enjoyed a moment to himself while scrolling through his phone.

Adam opted for a sporty attire for the day out as he wore a pair of bright blue shorts and a beige North Face padded coat while resting on the doorstep.

It’s no secret that Hollywood’s highest-paid actor is a fan of the Blues, as he once was in attendance for a west London derby game involving Chelsea and Fulham, 15 years or so ago, according to Tribal Football

He even recalled how spontaneous it was to go to the game, which ended up being a win for Chelsea, at the time.

He told local London radio: ‘My friend opened the newspaper and saw an ad for the game. He said ”do you want to go to a soccer game?” I said ”yeah that’s a great idea, I’ve never been to one.”

‘So we all went there and they were really nice, we were at Fulham vs. Chelsea and it was at an old-style venue [Craven Cottage]. We sat in the Chelsea section and the tunes were rocking!

The star is also often seen with his wife Jackie, 49, and their daughters Sadie, 17, and Sunny, 15, while out and about in the capital.
