All the Boots stores closing including 15 shops in London
Of the latest store closures, at least 15 are in the capital and those impacted include Forest Hill and Camden.
The latest round of shuttered stores comes as several high-street retail giants reel from the impact of dwindling sales and poor profits.
According to Tim Wentworth, the chief executive of Walgreens Boots Alliance, Boots has been struggling with recent market dynamics and were forced to make the tough decision.
“We continue to face a difficult operating environment, including persistent pressures on the US consumer and the impact of recent marketplace dynamics, which have eroded pharmacy margins,” Mr Wentworth said.
“Our results and outlook reflect these headwinds, despite solid performance in both our international and US healthcare segments.”
While there are still some 2,100 Boots stores across the UK, the announced closures, according to reports, are part of a plan to save around £618m.
