Arcadis helps city of New London secure nearly million in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding to replace lead service lines

Arcadis, a leading global design and consultancy organization for natural and built assets, supported the city of New London, CT, in acquiring federal funding for a significant initiative to replace lead service lines (LSLs) within the community.

In total, Arcadis assisted the community in obtaining a $6.9 million loan and $4 million in principle forgiveness to support the replacement of 650 LSLs across the city of New London’s distribution system.

The financial boost is part of a larger grant of $99 million allocated to the state of Connecticut from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Lead Service Line Replacement allotments. Replacement of these lead service lines advances the availability of safe drinking water in communities.

Jennifer Kelly Lachmayr, Senior Vice President and New England Area Leader for Arcadis, said: “We’re proud of the steps New London has taken to update their water supply lines that contain lead to provide safer drinking water for their residents. The city has been a leader in replacing lead service lines and proactive in securing funding, resulting in this project being the first within the state.”

Arcadis was announced as the program manager for the lead service line replacement program for New London in November 2023 and has helped communities in Connecticut, Indiana and Ohio access nearly $38 million in BIL funds to identify and replace LSLS.
