Emergency services on scene as London police station evacuated

Fire engines are in attendance and a police station has been evacuated due to a mystery incident.

Events unfolded from 5pm today in Barkingside, east London.

A witness told Express.co.uk: “There are two fire engines outside and everyone has been brought out of the building as a precaution.

“I don’t know what is going on and they won’t say anything.”

A Met Police spokesman said: “Looks like an electrical fault.”

Express.co.uk has contacted the London Fire Service and will update as more is known.

A London Fire Service spokesperson said: “Firefighters were mobilised to a smell of smoke in Barkingside Police Station in Ilford.

“Crews investigated the building and no fire was apparent.

“The brigade was called at 4:31pm and the incident was over for firefighters by 4:54pm.

“Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters from Hainault and Ilford fire stations attended the scene.”
