Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded its Global Debt Finance Practice, Investment Funds Practice and Global Financial Institutions Industry Group with the addition in London of funds finance partner Emma Russell.

“White & Case has a leading leveraged finance practice globally with significant experience advising clients across the full range of debt products that are available to investment funds and their portfolio companies,” said White & Case partner Eliza McDougall, head of the Global Debt Finance Practice. “As the fund finance market continues to expand rapidly, we are committed to continuing to support our clients’ needs and Emma’s arrival adds market leading depth and capacity to our global offering.”

Emma is a highly experienced finance lawyer whose practice spans the full range of lending products across all fund sectors including private equity, real estate, secondaries, infrastructure and hedge, advising across capital call facilities, hybrid/NAV facilities, general partner support, co-invest facilities, portfolio acquisition facilities and funds structuring. She also has significant experience advising credit funds and their lenders on leverage facilities, CLOs, CDOs and securitization vehicles, advising lenders and funds on private equity, receivables financing, asset-based lending, specialty finance and real estate fund structuring, and advising lenders and sponsors on investment and development real estate finance and leverage restructurings. In addition, Emma sits on the board of the Fund Finance Association and the board of the Women in Fund Finance group. She joins White & Case from Haynes Boone, where she was a partner and head of the finance practice in London, and brings nearly 25 years of experience.

“White & Case has built a significant global investment funds practice and Emma’s exciting addition sends a clear signal to the market that we are the go-to law firm for funds seeking full service support,” said White & Case partner Emily Brown, head of the Investment Funds Practice. “In Emma our clients will benefit from the experience, expertise and commercial approach of one of the leading fund finance partners in the UK market, with a proven track record and strong and enduring relationships with global banks, lenders and borrowers across the US, EMEA and Asia-Pacific.”

White & Case partner and Vice Chair Oliver Brettle said: “Emma’s addition is another important step in the ongoing growth of our investment funds capabilities globally, following the recent lateral additions of partners Emily Brown, Alexandra Chauvin and Lavanya Raghavan in London, Philip Sacks in Dubai, Omar Hemady in Boston, Eriko Sakata in Tokyo and Emmanuel Gutton in Luxembourg. This worldwide strength is integral to the support White & Case provides to clients in the private equity, sovereign wealth fund, infrastructure, asset management, debt and real estate sectors.”
