Grocery shopping was dominated by falling inflation, fake tan and football this month and the Euros was dampened by the wet summer.
According to Kantar analysts’ grocery price inflation fell to 1.6% compared to 2.1% in June.
Football fans watching Euro 2024 drove beer sales up by and average of 13% when England played.
On “school nights” Brits chose to spend on moderation and also no alcohol beer rose by 38% on match days, the analysis shows.
Fraser McKevitt, head of retail and consumer insight at Kantar, said: “The retail landscape looks very different from 2010 when the last Labour government was in power – and so do our shopping trolleys.
“As diets have evolved, sales of popcorn, peanut butter and chilled vegetarian products, such as sausages and grills, have more than trebled.
“We’re also more likely to have premium ground and bean coffee in our cups now.”
