Everything you need to know about The Everything Retreat | London Daily News

Im a huge fan of staycations and when I was invited to come to the idilyc Everything Retreat I jumped at the chance to bring my friends, husband and dog with me.

Boarding the train at Euston with my husband Drew and our dog Beverley, the two hours journey to Preston passed with great friends and the odd glass….

We were met by our driver who transported us deep into the heart of the glorious Ribble Valley.  Even the efforts of Storm Bert couldn’t stop us admiring the rolling hills and quaint villages.

It was a Hogwarts moment arriving at the gates that led us into the total privacy of Everything Retreat and the team greeted us with drinks before showing us to our private Lodge.

The dream child of owner Louise Monk, a gorgeously vivacious entrepreneur whose background in hospitality was cut short by three children and three broken bones in her back!   Once all had either healed or moved out, she set about creating her vision drawing on her overseas travels.  This means there are six unique lodges, each themed from Africa, Asia, Scotland, Sweden etc…. and six signature lodges that exude the same amount of attention to detail.

Beverley thoroughly approved and settled down under the Christmas tree on her faux sheepskin rug and moved only for sausages casually dropped from the afternoon tea table!

Our lodge was warm and toasty with log burner, underfloor heating and our own hot tub.  It was an effort to dress and walk down to the private bar and dining room to enjoy our cocktails and pre dinner drinks.

It was worth the effort though! A wonderful time with old friends and new friends on a long sharing table in front of the fire.  Plenty of gossip shared and secrets told!

Louise caters for events, so had laid on gong baths, yoga and facials for all so we all jollied around in our comfies waiting for our turn.

Imagine hiring the whole retreat for a fully curated few days!  The team were efficient and quiet and nothing was too much trouble.

There is the option of a continental breakfast served each morning in a box left outside your lodge or its down to the bar for a bloody Mary (delighted to see they already stock Bloody Drinks who are my favourites) and a cooked breakfast of local produce.

Only 50 minutes from Manchester and 50 minutes from the Lake District, you really can make it what you want it to be….  It really is Everything…. And it really is a Retreat.
