Floyd Mayweather has issued a statement on social media amid claims he was ‘attacked by a mob’ while shopping in London.

A video emerged of Mayweather seemingly in distress as he was escorted through the street by security amid reports he was attacked by a mob while shopping in London.

A large crowd descended on him and his entourage while visiting a jewellery store in Hatton Garden.

People on the street could be heard taunting and shouting at the former boxing superstar as his bodyguards tried to assist him into a blacked-out vehicle.

He eventually got into the car before it sped away, leaving the scene of the incident.

But Mayweather has dismissed speculation that he was ‘punched’ or ‘touched’ in any way.

On Instagram, he wrote: “Let me set the record straight…there’s no truth to the rumours going around. I wasn’t punched or touched in any way. What you’re seeing is just my security doing their job to keep things under control.

“I was in the UK for a quick 48-hour stop to do some shopping, and unfortunately, people let jealously and negatively fuel false stories.

“I’m perfectly fine, and there’s really nothing more to it.”

Mayweather, who made millions during his career, walked away from professional boxing following his victory over UFC star Conor McGregor.

But he has returned to the sport in the shape of several exhibitions, having faced John Gotti III last August.

The 47-year-old has also taken on the likes of Aaron Chalmers, Logan Paul and KSI’s brother Deji.
