From Amazon’s HQ to the Amazon Rainforest | London Business School

Second-year MBA student Divya Chaurasia’s latest column for Poets & Quants lifts the lid on her “transformative” second year at London Business School (LBS), which has been “shaped by experiences that have expanded [her] perspectives and sparked personal growth”.

Divya describes how she was able to implement the learnings from her coursework at LBS and enrich her knowledge during her two-month internship at Amazon’s European headquarters in Luxembourg, where she designed a new vendor management and negotiation process.

She also shares details of her five-day faculty-led Global Experience course in São Paulo, Brazil, which focused on achieving triple-bottom-line performance in new ventures and taught her the importance of adaptability when scaling businesses.

The necessity of balancing financial success with positive environmental, social, and governance impact was driven home to her during a trip to the Amazon rainforest, where the interconnectedness of the ecosystem made a big impression on her.

“It struck me that the same principles of interdependence apply not only to nature but also to society and business. Just as the rainforest flourishes through the delicate balance of its ecosystem, businesses and societies must strive for harmony, ensuring that growth and progress are achieved without compromising sustainability.”

Read Divya’s latest column if you’d like to find out more about the importance of innovation and adaptability, the value of a long-term vision and why she feels that success and sustainability stem from understanding our environment, building resilient systems, and taking actions that prioritize the future.
