Indian cricket fans flooded the streets of London to celebrate the Indian Cricket Team’s T20 World Cup victory on Saturday. Amid the festivities, one fan encountered mishap when trying to hoist the Indian flag atop a pole outside Queensbury tube station. A video capturing the incident showed him losing his grip and falling, resulting in injuries to his face. Despite visible cuts and bruises, he appeared stable and able to walk shortly after the fall.

In another part of the city on Ealing Road, celebrations were also in full swing. According to reports, police detained an individual, although the reason for the detention remains unknown. Meanwhile, fireworks and revelry echoed through Harrow as fans celebrated in India’s victory.

India secured their first World Cup title in 13 years by defeating South Africa by seven runs at Kensington Oval. Virat Kohli’s stellar innings of 76 runs off 59 balls and Hardik Pandya’s crucial three wickets were instrumental in India clinching their second ICC T20 championship. Following the victory, both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced their retirement from international T20 cricket.

During his Player of the Match interview, Kohli,35, announced, “This was my last T20 World Cup. It is time for the new generation to come through for India now. We have some amazing players coming through and they have to take this team forwards now.”

In his post-match press conference, Captain Rohit, aged 37, revealed, “This was my last game as well. There’s no better time to say goodbye to this format. I’ve loved every moment of this. I started my India career in T20 and this is what I wanted to do. I wanted to win the cup and say goodbye.”
