INFO: Train travel advice for Sunday’s FA Cup Semi-Final


Sky Blues fans heading to Wembley for the eagerly anticipated Emirates FA Cup Semi Final by train have a number of options which are set out below.

CHOICE OF ROUTES:

Fans have the choice of two routes down to London.

  • Avanti West Coast and West Midlands Trains’ services run from Coventry, Nuneaton and Rugby to London Euston.  Euston station is approximately 40 minutes from Wembley via the London Underground from Euston Square Tube station (Metropolitan Line).
  • Chiltern Railways run from Warwick Parkway and Leamington Spa to Wembley Stadium and London Marylebone.

EXTRA TRAINS / ADDITIONAL CAPACITY:

The operators have worked closely together to supplement their normal service to ensure there is enough capacity to get fans safely to and from the game.

Over 25 services will leave the region bound for London on the morning of the game, with a similar amount post match). These include a number of additional services:

  • Avanti West Coast – An additional service will departure Coventry at 09:02 for London Euston with seats available to book online now at www.avantiwestcoast.co.uk
  • West Midland Trains – Two additional services will run from Coventry on the Sunday morning, with additional capacity provided after the game. https://wmr.uk/facupsemifinal
  • Chiltern Railways – Five additional services will run from Warwick Parkway and Leamington Spa to Wembley Stadium, and again after the match. ARRIVE AT THE STATION IN GOOD TIME:

Queuing systems will be in place at Coventry, Warwick Parkway and Leamington Spa on the morning of the game, and again in the evening at London Euston and Wembley Stadium. Fans should note that Manchester United and Liverpool supporters will also be travelling back via London Euston, with designated platforms for each sets of returning fans.

BOOK IN ADVANCE:

Fans are strongly encouraged to book in advance to avoid having to queue to buy tickets on the day. Fans can either buy online or visit their station before Sunday to get their tickets. Anyone travelling with Avanti West Coast is encouraged to also reserve their seats and travel on their booked service.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL:

Bookings suggest a significant number of fans are looking to travel early on the Sunday, getting into London mid morning.  With a journey time of less than 90 minutes, fans still to decide when to travel, may want to choose to opt for a later service. Similarly post match fans may also want to consider a staggered return home to avoid the expected queues at London Euston and Wembley Stadium.

LAST TRAIN HOME:

The last train back to Coventry is the 2324 Avanti West Coast service from London Euston.
