Italian castle with 29 bedrooms costs less than the average London house
This vast property located on a beautiful hill-top sanctuary in northern Italy boasts 29 bedrooms – and is cheaper than the average cost of a house in London.
Valdengo Castle in Piedmont, Biella, Italy has a total of 45 rooms, of which 29 are bedrooms.
It is located just one hour away from the fashion capital city of Milan and the area is loved by sports lovers due to its many tennis clubs, golf courses and its proximity to the Biellese Alps for skiing.
The castle resides on a hill surrounded by trees where residents can enjoy a 360 degree view of the Biellese Alps, Novara hills and the village of Valdengo.
Despite its enormous size and desirable location, the property costs a very reasonable £664,959.
This is significantly cheaper than the average house price in London, according to figures on Zoopla.
Buyers will be expected to fork out £695,295, according to the average sold price for a property in London in the last 12 months.
A detached house has an avergae price of £1,272,778, while a semi-detached costs £778,381.
Meanwhile, a tarraced property is likely to cost buyers £792,438 and flats go for around £507,974.
Zoopla figures show that the vast majority of houses in London will cost significantly more than the 29-bedroom Italian castle.
However, Rightmove has made it clear that the castle would require some renovation work.
The listing reads: “Overall, the property needs an integral intervention. In fact, although some environments preserve the historical beauty and the traces of the noble origins, the systems, the fixtures and the bathrooms must be modernized.
“The roof and some floors need to be completely redone.”
