Jeremie Frimpong Gifts NBA-Style Rings to Bayer Leverkusen’s Title-Winning Team

Jeremie Frimpong just kitted out his Bayer Leverkusen side with bespoke Championship rings following their historic Bundesliga title.

Bayer made history by becoming only the third European team this century to complete an invincible league campaign, winning their first-ever Bundesliga title in the process. What better way to celebrate a record-breaking win than with some really big rings?

The Dutch baller immortalised his side’s efforts over the last season with bespoke jewels for the entire team, crafted by luxury jewellers PASCAL. Each ring includes the player’s name and number on one side, with Leverkusen’s motto of ‘Factory Eleven Football Passion’ engraved on the other.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen bespoke rings in football, though. When France won the World Cup back in 2018, Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann designed NBA-inspired rings to commemorate the accomplishment.

Though Championship rings are uncommon in European sports, they remain one of the most fun and unique aspects of American sports culture. Medals are nice, but something about having a few golden rings to stunt hits different.

The Americanisation of football is in full force, whether that’s in the shape of tunnel fits, ‘courtside’ seating, athlete-led media or half-time shows. Whilst some parts of this movement have proven to be contentious topics for football traditionalists, Championship rings could be the one trend that turns the doubters into believers. This won’t be the last time we see this in the game, that’s for sure.
