Kate Middleton Steps Out in Purple Safiyaa Dress for Wimbledon Finals 2024
LONDON — Kate Middleton is slowly returning to her official royal duties.
The Princess of Wales, patron of the All England Tennis and Croquet Club, stepped out for the men’s finals of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships wearing a purple dress from British brand Safiyaa with gold hoop earrings from By Pariah.
The princess first wore a dress from the brand in November last year to the Royal Variety Performance 2023 at Royal Albert Hall in London.
In 2020, Meghan Markle wore a red Safiyaa dress as part of her farewell wardrobe. Other fans of the brand include Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner, Rebel Wilson and Viola Davis.
Middleton made her first public appearance this year at Trooping the Colour in June. The last time the public saw her was on Christmas Day in 2023.
The princess took to social media in June to say she’d be returning slowly to her royal duties while undergoing treatment for her cancer diagnosis. In a statement, she expressed her gratitude for the support she’s received and offered an update on her health.
“I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times,” she said.
The statement also featured an image taken of her by photographer Matt Porteous. In the photograph, she’s wearing dark blue jeans, a white shirt and a taupe blazer, and standing by a large tree, looking skyward.
The Princess of Wales has been patron of the All England Club since 2016, and hands out the winner’s trophy following the men’s and women’s singles final. She also a regular at the matches, championing young talent and mingling with star players, such as Roger Federer, in the royal box on center court.
At last year’s women’s finals, she wore a pastel midi dress from Self-Portrait. The dress had a short sleeve blazer-inspired bouclé bodice and a pleated chiffon skirt. For the men’s finals, she chose an emerald midi dress by Roland Mouret.
