Kyiv ‘must agree to the cession of territories in exchange for peace’ – London Business News | Londonlovesbusiness.com

The cessation of hostilities in Ukraine according to the formula “peace-for-land” does not meet the interests of the Russian Federation, as well as the prospects of freezing the conflict like on the Korean peninsula, said Sergey Mironov, the leader of the A Just Russia – Patriots – For Truth party and faction in the State Duma

The Russian MP said that President Volodymyr Zelensky must agree with Vladimir Putin to give up the land occupied by Russia to end the war.

Mirinov told LondonLovesBusiness.com, “The West is once again insistently talking about the need to end the conflict in Ukraine. The message to Zelensky is clear: Kiev must agree to the cession of territories in exchange for peace and the independence of Ukraine, by analogy with how Finland did it in 1940.

“Someone suggests the option of freezing the conflict according to the Korean scenario. None of these scenarios meets Russia’s interests and is therefore not viable.

“The meaning of diplomatic pressure on Zelensky is obvious: the West wants to keep the anti-Russian regime in power in Kiev by all means. For the West, Ukraine is a buffer and a convenient springboard for ‘deterring Russia.’ And Ukrainians are nothing more than cannon fodder, which Zelensky is actively trading today in exchange for money and weapons. The ideologists of such a proxy war want it to last as long as possible and exhaust Russia. But they did not take into account the power of the Russian army and Russia’s determination to defend its national interests at its borders.

No one in Russia has any doubt that if peace is concluded, Ukraine will be pumped up with weapons again for a new war. Moreover, it could be a sabotage and terrorist war using chemical and bacteriological weapons or even a ‘dirty’ bomb.

“Therefore, Russia will not fall for tricks like «peace-for-land». This is not a war for land. Our demands were clearly stated by the President: denazification, demilitarization, and the neutral status of Ukraine. That’s what should be at the center of the negotiations. I am sure that it is impossible to achieve these goals without the elimination of the Zelensky regime.”
