The Health Minister Andrew Gwynne has said that he has plans to ban advertising on junk food both online and on TV before 9pm.

Gwynne wants the junk food ban to be in place by 1 October 2025 and he said in a written statement that the Labour Party are to bring in the ban “without further delay.”

Gwynne added, “Our proposal is to make clear in the regulations that IPTV services regulated by Ofcom will be subject to the broadcast 9pm watershed in the same way as other TV and Ofcom-regulated on-demand programme services.

This requires clarification within the secondary legislation and, in line with our statutory duty to consult, we are launching a targeted consultation which is open for four weeks from today.
