Lidl takes on London Fashion Week with pop up store selling £50 leather bag dedicated to its beloved bakery

Discount supermarket Lidl has revealed plans for its first ever London Fashion Week pop-up store.

Called Patisserie Lidl, the retailer will take to the UK’s capital to sell a limited-edition leather bag, priced at £50, with all proceeds going to the NSPCC.

The shop will sell the Lidl x Nikolas Bentel croissant bag across two days, which previously sold out in under two minutes, and croissants for 59p each.

Designed by Nikolas Bentel, the pastry-inspired handbag pays tribute to Lidl’s croissant, with the store selling on average, 122 croissants every minute, according to Grocery Gazette.

It’s garnered support from Jordan Stephens of the recently reunited Rizzle Kicks, who sported the unique creation.

Shoppers who missed the initial drop can get their hands on one of the leather handbags for £50, which are being sold on a first-come first-served basis.

Visitors can sample the muse behind the handbags, the Lidl ‘All Butter Croissant’, for 59p, with the proceeds from the popup going to children’s charity, the NSPCC.

Bentel, who believes ‘design should take the mundane and make it memorable’, is known for his collection of ‘Pasta Bags’ – which imitate boxes of spaghetti, penne and farfalle.

The Patisserie Lidl opens its doors at Dean Street, London, between  from 13 September to 14 September.

It comes after Lidl treated Emily in Paris fans to a taste of Parisian glamour with a new exclusive merchandise collection

The retailer’s Parisian-themed line comes just in time to coincide with the final five episodes of the season, following the show’s dramatic mid-season return on August 15.

Fans have been on the edge of their seats after Emily Cooper, the series’ fashion-forward protagonist, made the decision to end her love triangle by choosing Gabriel over Alfie, sparking heated debates among the show’s 19.9 million viewers.

Now, as viewers eagerly await the conclusion of the season, set to release on Netflix on September 12, Lidl’s latest offering adds a touch of ‘joie de vivre’ to the anticipation.

From culinary delights to stylish apparel, there’s something for every fan of the show.

Shoppers can sink their teeth into authentic Parisian treats such as delicate Macarons, luxurious Chocolate Truffles infused with Marc de Champagne and Blackcurrant Spirit, and Mini Éclairs filled with Vanilla Flavoured Cream.

For those looking to quench their thirst, customers can try Lidl’s Emily in Paris Shandy with Grenadine and refreshing Sparkling Lemonade.

In a nod to the fashion-centric world of Emily in Paris, the collection also includes wearable merchandise that promises to elevate any wardrobe.

Whether it’s a chic Emily in Paris Ladies’ T-Shirt or cosy Emily in Paris Slippers, fans can channel their inner Emily with these stylish additions.

Adding to the excitement, Lidl is offering several lucky shoppers the chance to win an unforgettable Parisian getaway.

The winners of the Emily in Paris Experience will enjoy a four-night stay in a boutique hotel in Paris, complete with a candlelit dinner on the Seine, a French bakery course, a French lesson, and a tour of filming locations from the show.

To enter the competition, fans can head to the @lidlgb Instagram account and follow the instructions on the pinned post. Entries close on September 11, so hopeful participants will need to act fast.

Lidl’s Parisian collection arrives at the perfect moment, allowing fans to savour the flavours and fashion of Emily in Paris as they countdown to the season’s thrilling conclusion.

Meanwhile, Emily in Paris fans have been left ’embarrassed’ after flitting around the French capital in colourful ensembles and berets inspired by Lily Collins’ wardrobe in the hit show.

Season four of the popular Netflix series lands tomorrow, following Chicago-born marketing guru, Emily Cooper, who’s juggling her demanding job with a complicated romantic life in the ‘City of Love’.

Over the past three seasons, Emily’s outfits have well and truly taken centre stage, as she strolls around in preppy contrasting prints and neon colours with a baguette under her arm. But her most offensive accessory is a beret.

Hoards of tourists arrive in Paris thinking they’re dressed to impress like Emily, but end up regretting their decision to don the hat when they realise that no actual Parisians wear them.
