London club now want to sign £50m United star with 30 appearances last season – report
West Ham United have revived their interest in signing Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer, according to The Times.
The 26-year-old is currently contracted to United until the summer of 2025. The hierarchy don’t seem interested in prolonging his stay.
It is now reported that he is deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and the Hammers are interested in securing his services.
The 26-year-old joined United from Crystal Palace for £50 million five years ago. He has been fantastic with his one-on-one defending and ability to make crucial tackles.
However, manager Erik ten Hag wants much more from his right-back. The Dutch tactician prefers someone, who can make regular overlapping runs as well as goal contributions.
This is a prime reason behind his preference for Diogo Dalot. Both Dalot and Wan-Bissaka started in the backend of last season amid the injury crisis at left-back, but the former is the first-choice.
In our view, United are likely to cash in on Wan-Bissaka for a reasonable fee such that they can spend on an attacking right-back. Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong is on their radar.
The Netherlands ace had a fantastic 2023/24 season with 14 goals and 12 assists from 47 outings. He predominantly played from the right wing-back role for the German champions.
Nevertheless, United are still keen on pursuing his signature. The former Celtic man could be signed on the cheap due to a release clause worth £34 million in his Leverkusen deal.
