London Games NFL teams touchdown at Stansted – Your Harlow
AMERICAN football teams have used London Stansted once again as their gateway to the UK for the NFL London Games this autumn.
The series brings together some of the top teams from the NFL for three exciting matches in the capital every year.
The airport has served as a gateway for many of the teams playing in the series since the first game at Wembley in 2007 when the New York Giants defeated the Miami Dolphins 13-10.
The first team to touchdown this year was the New York Jets, who arrived at 7am on Friday, October 4, ahead of their highly anticipated game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday (Oct 6) at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It was a 23-17 loss for the Jets, who flew back to New York from London Stansted on Sunday night.
The Chicago Bears touched down at London Stansted this morning (Oct 8) ahead of their match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on October 13 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Bears have been regular participants in the series having previously played in London in 2011 and 2019.
All the flights are being operated by Virgin Atlantic using Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.
Nick Millar, London Stansted’s Operations Director, said:
“London Stansted’s location, coupled with its excellent facilities and hassle-free travel experience, makes it an ideal hub for teams participating in the NFL London Games.
“Our efficient infrastructure and dedicated staff ensure that all necessary arrangements are made to ensure a smooth arrival and departure process for the teams.”
