London golfer wins Sarnia Golf and Curling Club men’s invitational
London’s Derek Dalziel won the annual Sarnia Golf and Curling Club men’s invitational by one stroke Saturday.

Derek Dalziel, of London’s the Oaks Golf Club, won the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club men’s invitational by one stroke Saturday with a two-round total of 141.
Dalziel fired a 70 in the second round after shooting a 71 Friday.
Runner-up Graham Hill, of Sarnia Golf and Curling Club, shot rounds of 70 and 72 for a 142 total. Next in the 0-2 handicap flight were Sarnia’s Ethan O’Meara (144), Steve Brown (145) and Oliver Stephens (147).
Galt’s Dean Weber (150 total) won the 3-5 flight, Sarnia’s Nick Powell (150) won the 6-8 flight, Huron Oaks’ Matthew Nutt (159) won the 9-12 flight and Sarnia’s Tanner Nathan (169) won the 13-and-over flight.
Fraser wins bronze at U23 Pan-Ams
Sarnia’s Brianna Fraser won a bronze medal in the women’s 76-kg division at the inaugural Pan-American under-23 wrestling championships on the weekend in Rionegro, Colombia.

Fraser defeated Puerto Rico’s Paola Rodriguez Guzman 9-6 in a bronze match to finish with a 2-1 record.
Fraser opened with a 4-0 pinfall win over Colombia’s Dayana Hurtado Castillo in a quarter-final. She lost to Argentina’s Linda Machuca 6-2 in a semifinal.
Canada finished fifth in the women’s points standings with one silver medal and four bronze.
Imperials suffer first loss of season
The Sarnia Imperials go into the Ontario Power 5 Football League’s mid-season break tied for first place with a 2-1 record.
Quarterback Spencer Bollman scored on a three-yard run in Saturday’s 21-7 loss to the Sault Steelers in Sault Ste. Marie.
The Steelers and Tri-City Outlaws are also 2-1, while the Sudbury Spartans are 0-3.

The Imperials will get another shot at the Steelers when the teams face off again Saturday, July 6, at Norm Perry Park.
Lambton basketball has OCAA dates
The Lambton Lions will begin the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association basketball season Friday, Oct. 18, when the women’s and men’s teams visit the Redeemer Royals.
The Lions’ home openers will be Wednesday, Oct. 23, against the Fanshawe Falcons.
The women play 16 games and the men play 18 games in the regular season. Most dates are doubleheaders.
The Lions are the reigning OCAA women’s champions and also won silver at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association championship.
Saints sweep three rugby games
The Sarnia Saints went 3-0 in a rugby tripleheader Saturday at Norm Perry Park.

The Saints men’s A team improved to 1-5-0 in Ontario Rugby’s Marshall League with a 30-20 win over London St. George’s.
The men’s B team (2-4-0) also beat St. George’s 31-24.
The women’s team (3-1-0) defeated Grimsby 52-23 in the Niagara Rugby Union.
The games were part of the Saints’ annual Play It Forward fundraiser. Proceeds this year go to the Alzheimer Society of Sarnia-Lambton.
Sarnia FC teams split in WOSL games
Sarnia FC (6-1-1) remains in first place in the Western Ontario Soccer League’s second division despite suffering its first loss Friday, a 1-0 defeat to St. Columban.
In the fourth division, Landon Buckingham and Victor Mantilla scored Friday for first-place Sarnia FC (6-0-0) in a 2-1 win over the Woodstock Stallions D.

Both Sarnia FC teams are scheduled to play this Friday. The Second Division squad hosts the London German Canadians at 8 p.m. at Norm Perry Park while the Fourth Division crew visits the Chatham Galaxy.
Varsity Sturgeon fall to Warriors
The visiting Sarnia U18 Sturgeon (2-3) lost to the Waterloo Warriors 24-22 Saturday in the Ontario Summer Football League.
The U12 Sturgeon (2-2) beat the Chatham-Kent Cougars 32-8 Sunday.
Three Sturgeon teams are scheduled to play this Saturday. The U18 team visits the Forest City Thunderbirds, the U14 team visits the Peel Panthers and the U12 team visits the Oakville Titans.
