London teacher charged with sex assault, sexual interference | CBC News

A London teacher is facing sexual assault and sexual interference charges after police say a school-aged girl was touched inappropriately on more than one occasion.

Parents are being told to talk to their kids because police say there could be other victims.

“Investigators believe that there may be additional victims, and are encouraging parents and guardians to speak to their children. If members of the public have any information that can assist, or had similar dealings with the accused, we ask that they contact London police,” said Const. Sandasha Bough.

Police say they were notified earlier this month about a sexual assault allegation that allegedly took place at a school in the city’s north end.

“Officers entered into an investigation and learned that a school-aged girl was touched inappropriately on more than one occasion by a man in a position of authority at the school earlier this year,” police said.

The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.

Cody Steven Kunder, 26, of London, faces one charge each of sexual assault and sexual interference with a person under 16 years of age.

Kunder was released from custody and is expected in court in July.

He is listed on the Ontario College of Teachers as having graduated from Western University’s faculty of education in 2022. His teaching qualifications are listed as primary and junior, as well as geography at the intermediate level.

The record shows he has also completed a sexual abuse prevention program, an online course all teachers have to complete as of 2022.

The Thames Valley District School Board confirmed Kunder is an employee of the board but that he is not working with students or in a school. Superintendent of Human Resources Katie Osborne said he’s been assigned to home pending results of the investigation.
