In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said the area around the embassy has been evacuated and security agencies put on high alert. They said that several buildings around the embassy have been evacuated and employees moved to the other buildings

The US embassy also issued a statement saying the cause of the blast is being investigated.

Notably, the blast occurred around the same time when a suspicious package was found at London’s Gatwick Airport, prompting evacuation at one of the terminals at UK’s second busiest airport.
