London Mayor Josh Morgan and his wife have publicly announced their separation, which occurred almost a year ago.
“After carefully considering what is best for us and for our children, we made the mutual decision to separate in July of 2023,” read a statement from Josh and Melanie Morgan, which was published on social media Thursday morning.

“Until now, we had decided to keep this matter private to ensure the wellbeing of our children as we all worked through the early stages of this change together,” the post reads.

Morgan and his wife, an elementary school educator, were married in 2007, according to the City of London website.
“This has been an incredibly difficult time for our family. Although we are no longer a couple, we remain united in raising our four children as co-parents and friends,” the post from the couple reads.
“Our dedication to supporting our kids has – and always will be – our greatest priority.”
Morgan, 46, declined to make further comment.
After narrowly losing the race for west-end Ward 8 in 2006, Morgan entered municipal politics in 2014, winning the race to become ward councillor for Ward 7. He was re-elected to the seat in 2018, though mayoral ambitions were well-known at city hall.
He ran for the city’s top political job in 2022, winning in a landslide against a crowded field that only boasted one credible challenger, former longtime Liberal MPP Khalil Ramal.
Originally from Sarnia, Morgan moved to London two-plus decades ago to attend Western University. He worked at the school in an administrative role until taking on the full-time job of mayor.
