McDonald’s item fans think is available in UK — but hasn’t been for 8 years
McDonald’s fans in the US are going wild over the announcement that Snack Wraps will be returning in 2025.
The iconic menu item is so beloved it sparked numerous petitions as fans begged the fast food chain to bring it back – and it seems for many their prayers have finally been answered.
It’s good news for those over the pond, but what about Maccies in the UK?
A number of customers have already started wondering if the cult product will be rejoining the line-up in the UK too, while others are convinced Snack Wraps are still on the menu.
If you’re one of the people living in delusion, we hate to break it to you but Snack Wraps were axed in 2016, meaning it’s been eight whole years since you could last get your hands on them in the UK.
The wraps, which contained one Chicken Select, sauce, some salad, and cheese, were a staple on the Saver Menu from the very moment they first launched in 2006.
They stuck around for a decade, before being discontinued, much to the chagrin of Maccies lovers.
Their removal from the menu made way for the Big Flavour wraps. These are still sold today and the range includes flavours such as The Sweet Chilli Chicken One, The Caesar & Bacon Chicken One, and The Spicy Veggie One.
Many Brits would love to see the Snack Wraps make a comeback, but unfortunately it’s not going to happen any time soon. McDonald’s UK has confirmed to Metro that they currently have no plans to bring them back.
However, there’s plenty of exciting menu changes to look forward to at the chain over the coming weeks and months.
On December 11, the infamous Grimace Shake will be returning to the UK after it sold out back in August.
The unique-coloured drink features a creamy milkshake base, blended with a blueberry flavoured syrup to create the ‘perfect purple combination’. It costs £2.69 for a medium shake, or £2.99 for a large, (although prices may vary between restaurants).
You’ll want to get your ice skates on though, as McDonald’s says it’ll be available for two weeks only, or while stocks last. So once it’s gone, it’s gone.
The festive menu is also currently available, with a new Cheesy McCrispy burger, the Big Tasty, plus a Terry’s Chocolate Orange pie and McFlurry.
McDonald’s has lots of exciting ideas in development as well, according to head of menu Thomas O’Neill. He recently told Metro there’s a Christmas product they’ve been thinking about for a while that hasn’t quite come to fruition, but could still see the light of day at some point.
‘There are so many things that we try that I get really excited about, and the team gets excited about, but for whatever reason, they don’t see the light of day. This could be because customer feedback isn’t right, it could be that we haven’t found the right way to commercialise the product, or it could be an operational or supply chain issue,’ he said.
‘I won’t give any of our secrets away, but I will say there is one idea that we’ve been looking at for Christmas. It’s in a different category – we’ve never done anything like it before.
‘It’s the kind of thing you see on the table during your Christmas lunch, and maybe, one year, we’ll try and get that over the line.’
