NATO confirms DPRK troops have been deployed to fight warning this is a ‘dangerous expansion of Russia’s war’ – London Business News | Londonlovesbusiness.com

The NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has said on Monday that North Korean troops have been deployed in Russia’s Kursk Oblast region.

On 6 August thousands of Ukrainian troops started their incursion on Russian soil and the Democratic People’s Republic of Kore (DPRK) have been deployed to push them out as Russia has lost thousands of troops amid fierce fighting.

Speaking in Brussels after a meeting with the South Korean defence and intelligence officials, the NATO chief said, “Today, I can confirm that North Korean troops have been sent to Russia, and that North Korean military units have been deployed to the Kursk region.”

Rutte warned that North Korean troops being deployed is “a significant escalation [with Pyongyang’s] ongoing involvement in Russia’s illegal war” which is a “dangerous expansion of Russia’s war.”

Last week Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR) said the DPRK are deploying 12,000 soldiers to actively fight with the Russian Armed Forces against Ukrainian troops inside Ukraine.

The NATO chief warned, “The deepening military cooperation between Russia and North Korea is a threat to both the Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic security. It undermines peace on the Korean Peninsula and fuels the Russian war against Ukraine.”

The US Pentagon chief confirmed during a briefing last Wednesday in Rome there “is evidence” North Korean troops are in Russia.

The US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said that Moscow is planning to use thousands of North Korean troops in Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine.

Austin said, “There is evidence that there are DPRK (North Korean) troops in Russia. What exactly they are doing? Left to be seen. These are things that we need to sort out.”

The Pentagon chief warned that Kim Jong-Un’s troops fighting for Russia will impact Europe and things in the Indo Pacific.

CNN reports, Austin added, “If they’re a co-belligerent, their intention is to participate in this war on Russia’s behalf, that is a very, very serious issue, and it will have impacts not only on in Europe — It will also impact things in the Indo Pacific as well.”
