NFL talking points: Kelce and Daniels star as London calls

Kansas City star tight end Travis Kelce became the Chiefs’ career receptions leader in the back-to-back Super Bowl champs’ 17-10 win against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Kelce had seven receptions for 89 yards, passing Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez for the franchise record.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who marked his 100th regular season start with a record 78th victory, said: “I mean, the whole Kelce thing in general hasn’t been a worry to me.

“I know whatever we need, he’s going to make plays. And that’s what he did today.”

Daniels shines again for Washington

Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels threw for 233 yards and a touchdown and ran for a score as the Commanders won their third straight game with a 42-14 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

Daniels — the number two overall pick last spring — became the fourth quarterback in the Super Bowl era to run for four touchdowns in his first four career games, joining Cam Newton, Robert Griffin III and Anthony Richardson. The Commanders have scored at least 30 points in two straight games for the first time since 2017.

“It feels good that we’re able to execute the gameplan, but we’ve still got room to grow,” Daniels said.

Vikings still unbeaten

The Minnesota Vikings held off a stirring comeback from the Green Bay Packers as a 31-29 win made it four successive victories in the NFL.

The visitors were leading 28-0 with five-and-a-half minutes of the second quarter remaining, but Will Reichard’s 33-yard field goal in the fourth proved crucial to get them over the line after fit-again quarterback Jordan Love led a fierce Packers response.

Sam Darnold threw three touchdown passes and Jordan Addison scored twice as the undefeated Vikings kept their run up.

“At the end of the day, we believe in each other more than anyone else believes in us,” Darnold said.

London calling

Packers legend Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets are heading to London on a sour note after a lacklustre effort in a 10-9 loss at home to Denver. Greg Zuerlein missed a potential winning 50-yard field goal in the final minute but it shouldn’t have been that close.

Rodgers struggled on a rainy, sloppy field and the offense was out of synch. The road doesn’t get easier for the Jets (2-2) as they face the Vikings next Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
