NFL Week 7 Sunday Schedule & Open Thread: Super Bowl rematch & final London game

Today should be one of the best NFL Sundays on the 2024 schedule. Not only are their four time slots’ worth of football taking place, but the afternoon schedule has three absolutely tremendous matchups worthy of national broadcasts.

Unfortunately, only one of those games will actually get the national treatment: a rematch of last year’s Super Bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers meet in the late afternoon slot today, with Andy Reid’s team looking to remain unbeaten and the 49ers trying to get back above .500. That game will deservedly get a national audience, despite not being in prime time.

However, the other two elite matchups today will go head-to-head in the early afternoon time slot, rather than getting bumped into Sunday Night Football. Those contests feature the 4-2 Packers hosting the 5-1 Texans, while the NFC North also gets its first elite divisional matchup between the 4-1 Lions and 5-0 Vikings. If you’re fortunate enough to be in a location where you can see both of those games, congratulations!

All of those games will fall between a morning game between the Jaguars and Patriots in London — the last NFL game there this season — and the night game between the Jets and Steelers.
