Overbury scoops major London fit-out job | Construction News

Overbury has landed a multimillion pound job to fit out a new science and technology building in London.

The contractor, which is part of Morgan Sindall, will take on 1 Triton Square, a 47,380 square metre site in the middle of the capital’s Knowledge Quarter, for a joint venture (JV) of British Land and Royal London Asset Management Property.

Overbury declined to provide Construction News with the contract value, but construction data specialist Glenigan has valued the job at £50m.

The building, which until last year was the office block for Facebook’s parent company Meta, is in Regent’s Place campus. It will include a mixture of lab-enabled facilities and office space. Work began this summer and completion is set for summer 2025.

Overbury is working on the site alongside consultancy Baker Hicks, which is also owned by Morgan Sindall. Overbury initially landed a preconstruction services agreement for the job in March, but has now been confirmed as contractor.

When British Land and Royal London Asset Management Property formed the JV in March, they valued the site at £385m.

Overbury managing director for London Mark Chain said: “1 Triton Square is more than just a fit-out; the British Land and Royal London Asset Management partnership plays a pivotal role in the growth of the science and research sector, with 1 Triton Square’s potential to attract the most renowned science and research institutions.”

Last month, Morgan Sindall reported a spike in profit as revenue jumped by 14 per cent in the first half of 2024.

The firm also pointed to “significant growth” at its fit-out arm – which comprises Overbury and Morgan Lovell – as operating profit at the arm rose by more than a third.

Morgan Sindall also credited its work in the fit-out sector for driving its “outstanding performance” in the first half of 2023.
