Patriots get good news on Friday in London

HARROW ON THE HILL, England — The Patriots offense should get a boost in Drake Maye’s second start.

After returning to practice at Harrow School in London on Friday afternoon, Rhamondre Stevenson thinks he’ll be able to get back in the lineup against the Jaguars on Sunday. The running back had been sidelined since suffering a foot injury against the Dolphins 12 days ago, but he’s now on the mend.

“I’m feeling good right now,” Stevenson said. “Had to take a couple days off, but I’m feeling like I should be ready to play on Sunday.”

Stevenson thought he could have been able to practice on Thursday, but the Patriots coaching staff held him out ahead of the team’s flight overseas. In Stevenson’s absence last week, New England’s running backs averaged just 2.1 yards per carry in their loss to the Texans. Undoubtedly Jerod Mayo’s best back, Stevenson averaged 4.6 yards per carry over the first five games.

After watching Maye’s debut last week, Stevenson said he’s been “very excited” get into the huddle with the rookie. As for Maye, he’s been listed with a knee injury, but like his teammate, Maye believes he’ll also be ready to go at Wembley Stadium.

“I’m feeling good,” Maye said. “These last two days, I feel good out there at practice. I’m feeling good now. Ready to go Sunday.”
