Residents at Ashley House in Trafalgar Road enjoyed dressing up and expressing their unique styles at the fashion show at the home, which included a quiz about the history of fashion over the past 40 years.

Meanwhile, residents at Elm Grove in Somerford Road enjoyed watching their carers and chefs dressed up and strutting down the catwalk.

Ashley House supports residents with different nursing and residential care requirements and also offers specialist care for people with Parkinson’s disease.

The other care home, Elm Grove, provides specialist support for people living with dementia.

Andree Franklin, 87, who lives at Ashley House, worked in a boutique in France and closely followed fashion in Paris and London in the 1960s.

Andree assisted in styling fellow residents, who loved their outfits so much they didn’t want to take them off.

Sharon Bell, activity coordinator at Ashley House, said: “We loved seeing our residents embrace this fun activity.

“They really enjoyed helping each other pick out outfits and look their best for the fashion show.”

Debbie Buttars, home manager at Elm Grove, said: “It was great to see our residents smiling and laughing while staff walked the fashion show.

“The residents also enjoyed other props and mocktails while they watched the show.”
