Prince Harry Makes Cheery Appearance in London for Invictus Games Celebration

Prince Harry has made it to London for his Invictus Games Foundation’s 10th anniversary celebration.

Harper’s Bazaar learned that the Duke of Sussex arrived in the United Kingdom on Tuesday for the event, taking place today at St. Paul’s Cathedral. (Wife Duchess Meghan did not travel with him.)

The Service of Thanksgiving is “reflecting on 10 years since the inaugural Invictus Games London 2014, marking a decade of changing lives and saving lives through sport,” the foundation said in a statement.

Attending the ceremony this afternoon will be representatives from across the Invictus Games participating nations, “including members of the wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veteran community,” the statement said.

Ahead of the event, the prince and founder of the Invictus Games participated in a conversation about the athletics competition, titled “Realising a Global Community,” at the Honourable Artillery Company headquarters. Among those with him onstage were British journalist Louise Minchin and Sir Keith Mills, an English entrepreneur who was deputy chairman of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

As Bazaar previously reported, Harry will not see his father, King Charles III, while he is in town for his celebration, as the British monarch is simply too busy. “It unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full program,” a Sussex rep said. “The Duke, of course, is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.” It is also highly unlikely Harry will see brother Prince William, as the two remain estranged.
