Russian MP explains why Donald Trump I not really a friend of Russia – London Business News | Londonlovesbusiness.com

US presidential candidate Donald Trump, like his rival Kamala Harris, reflects the selfish interests of the American deep state, claims a Russian MP.

It is not worth waiting for an improvement in US-Russia relations if one of them wins the elections, said Sergey Mironov, chairman of the party and leader of the “A Just Russia – Patriots – For Truth” faction in the State Duma.

Mironov said, “I see some statements in Russia in which they do not hide their sympathies for Donald Trump in contrast to Kamala Harris. They assume that under Trump, the United States will stop supporting the Kiev regime, Russia will immediately win, relations with America will improve, etc. I regard such groundless optimism as a sign of a short memory.”

The MP recalled that under the Trump administration in 2017-2021, US-Russia relations continued to deteriorate rapidly precisely because of Washington’s policy.

He added, “Trump denied Russian interference in the elections, but at the same time did not return Russian diplomatic property illegally seized under Obama, and also seized a new one.

“Under Trump, the United States imposed a lot of additional sanctions against Russia, withdrew from the Open Skies Treaty, terminated the INF Treaty, and aggressively obstructed the Nord Stream 2 project.

“Finally, the Trump administration did not contribute in any way to ending the conflict in Donbass, but on the contrary, began actively arming the Kiev regime. Whoever comes to power in the United States will express the interests of the so-called American deep state, whose goal is global domination.

“A strong and independent Russia is an obstacle to this. Republicans as well as Democrats do not want to talk to Russia on equal terms. As indeed, with any other country. The idea of American exceptionalism is in the blood of US politicians, including Trump, who expresses it with his slogan ‘America first.’

“Therefore, when Trump says that he is not a friend of Russia, I completely agree with him. This should be remembered by all those who place unjustified hopes on his presidency, which is still questionable.”
